About Me
I grew up in Columbia, SC, attending public schools. I have worked professionally as a City Planner, in Commercial Real Estate and on Political Campaigns. I am married to Roger Stevens and we have 2 children, Marlee (a Langston graduate) and Jack (8B). We are active at our church, Simpsonville First Baptist.
Education
- Furman University, BA Sociology
- Clemson University, Masters in City and Regional Planning
Previous Board Experience
In the past years I have served as Greenville County Republican Party Chairman, on the SC State Legacy Trust, State Mental Health Commission, SC Board of Education and I currently serve on the SC Education Lottery Commission and on the Greenville County Planning Commission.
In 2004 I was part of the original planning committee to start Langston and served as chairman. I served as Board Chairman from 2005 through 2009. I assumed the position of legislative liaison in July 2009.
It is my desire to continue the work we have started both in the students and with our program. It is vital that as LCMS grows that our commitment to the founding core values remain true. My goal is for Langston to fulfill its vision to be a model for the state and nation in single gender education.
