Leadership and Community Service Director

The Leadership and Community Service Director will abide by the adopted school mission, vision and core values as a member of the Board and will participate in the annual new student Family Intake Conferences.

The Director will partner with the school's Leadership program to ensure continued alignment with our school's core values. 

The Director will work with the Leadership teachers and staff as a resource for identifying strategies to maximize the impact of students service hours on the local community and in turn the personal development of students.

The Director, using their network of contacts and personal experiences, will help teachers and staff identity and promote opportunities for students to gain understanding of a variety of leadership roles and the personal characteristics that effective, ethical leaders exhibit.

 

Duties:

  Communicate with the Director of Campus Affairs on the Non-Profit Fair.

  Meet with Leadership teachers by August each year to discuss plans/goals, course focus, major events etc. planned for the coming year and communicate this information back to the board.

  Identify and organize a school-wide Leadership speaker at least once each semester to supplement course content. 

  Ensure that the board is informed at its meetings on school-sponsored community service activities, hours served by students and other information in support of the schools goals.

  Provide appropriate feedback to teachers and staff from the community and parents.

  Reward and recognize volunteers for their contributions.

  Develop and maintain appropriate records.                      

  Communicate activities to the Public Relations Chair to ensure they are properly promoted in the community.

 

Required qualifications:

  Exceptional work ethic.

  Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead volunteers.

  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and delegate responsibilities.

 

Desired qualifications:

  Prior experience with service organizations.

  Connections with local charitable organizations.

  Record of volunteer service at Langston.
