Board Chairman

The Chairman will abide by the adopted school mission, vision and core values statement in setting the vision and goals for the current board. The Chairman will participate in the annual new student Family Intake Conferences. The Chairman facilitates the Board meetings, serves as a conduit for ideas, and serves as a liaison between the principal, legal counsel, and the Board. The Chairman also has additional responsibilities at school events and other functions when necessary. The Chairman must model strong character and high moral standards and ensure that the integrity of the school and board is upheld and protected at all times.

Duties:

  1. The Chairman will be the official spokesperson for the Board and its decisions.
  2. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings.
  3. Call meetings as needed.
  4. Designate the time and place of meetings.
  5. May co-sign all checks.
  6. Appoint committees to accomplish specifically assigned tasks.
  7. Pre-approve all public relation media promotions.
  8. Responsible for end of year Faculty/Board dinner
  9. Maintain division of duty: Principal is responsible for academic operations and board is to set policy.
  10. Met regularly with principal to discuss and address issues as arise.
  11. Work with the Board Vice-Chairman to identify specific local charities or community needs to which Langston Community Service efforts should be targeted to raise awareness of Langston with strategic stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Effective communicator and listener
  • Able to delegate
  • Able to balance long-range vision and near-term priorities
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the goals and core values of LCMS

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior board experience, not necessarily with LCMS
