Bi-Lo Boosterplus Reminder: We are now in the 2nd half of the school year for the Bi-Lo Boosterplus program (Jan-Jun 2010).  It’s NOT too late to register your Bonuscard for the boosterplus program.  Go to the Langston school website, Parent Information, Download Form, and print the Bi-Lo Boosterplus form.  Take it with you to Bi-Lo the next time you shop and have them scan the form and your Bonuscard.  You will then be in the program.  If you shop at Bi-Lo, please enroll and give 1% of your spending back to Langston.

8th Grade Parents: If your student was selected in one of the Charter High School lotteries, please remember to send Mrs. Wall an email (pwall@langstoncharter.org) letting her know which high school your child will be attending.  Teacher recommendations, attendance and discipline reports, and grades are already completed, and will be sent by Langston to the appropriate high school.  If you are on the waiting list at one of the Charter Highs, nothing will be sent to the school until you are off the waiting list and eligible to enroll.

Ronald McDonald House Playground: Langston is helping raise funds for playground equipment for Ronald McDonald House through Leadership Greenville’s Operation Fun.  They have raised enough to order the equipment.  If you would like to contribute, come in and buy a bag of Liquid Highway coffee for $10.00.  $5.00 will be donated to the playground equipment fund.

Friday Memo February 12, 2010

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Presidents Day: We will not have school on Monday, February 15.

MAP Testing: The second MAP testing session will begin Tuesday, February 16th in Math and English classes.  Please encourage your child to do his/her best on each test.  Results will be sent home in March once testing is complete.  The scores on these tests will be one factor helping teachers make course placement recommendations for next year.

Operation We Care: We are collecting items to send to our troops overseas.  An email was sent home earlier this week with a list of most requested items.  We will take whatever we collect to Greenville Place Assisted Living Center, where the items will be packed.  Greenville Place needs 5 students to help with the packing on March 6th.  If you would like to help pack the items for shipping, please call Mr. Ham at 982-0793.

Attendance: When your child returns to school after an absence, please send a note in with them explaining why they were out.  All absences after 10 will be considered unexcused unless your student has a note from their doctor.  Students should bring the note to Mrs. Myers at 8:15, when they are dismissed from the auditorium.

Acts of Goodness: Thanks Mrs. Gabriel for hanging up our bulletin boards.  Thanks Mrs. Stuff, Mrs. Intile, Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Schwalm, and Mrs. Fite for hanging all of the “Acts of Goodness” on our Wall of Goodness.  Ask your child how many “Acts of Goodness” they have witnessed this week.  What were the acts and who committed them?  Next week is The Bear Scavenger Hunt.  Students will identify “Acts of Goodness” committed by our teachers.
