Friday Memo September 7, 2012

PASS test results went home today.  If your child didn’t receive theirs, it is possible that the scores were sent to the school they would have attended if they weren’t at Langston.  When the scores are sent to us we will send them home.

Sports News…The LCMS boys’ soccer team is off to a good start with a 1-1 record facing some challenging teams.  We have three games next week on Monday, Sept 10, Tuesday Sept. 11, and Thursday Sept. 13, all to be played at our home field at the Kroc Center located at 424 Westfield Street (downtown Greenville) beginning at 4:00.  Please come and support our team.  Go Langston!!!

Volleyball…The girls’ volleyball team started off their season with a victory on Thursday against Hampton Park.  The scores were: 23-25, 26-24, 15-13.
Next week they travel to St. Mary’s on Tuesday and Shannon Forest on Thursday.  Congratulations girls!

The Library fundraiser is active until October 10.  Please consider making a donation at  Parents can earn 2 hours of service for a $20.00 donation. Lunch cards are only sold in the amount of $20.  If you know your child will be late for school, and they would like to buy lunch that day, please make sure you let the office know by 9:15 am.  All lunch orders will be placed with our vendors by 9:15.

Dining 4 Women invites you to join us for a pot luck dinner on Monday, September 10, 6:30 – 8:00 in Ms. Cannon’s classroom.  All moms and daughters are welcomed!

D4W in an international organization founded right here in Greenville. Women gather together to “dine in” and then donate what they would have spent for “dinner out” in support of that month’s chosen program to help women and children around the world.  The Founder, Marsha Wallace, will be joining us!  See her interview with Brian Williams at

Congratulations to Langston 8th grader, Anish Chaluvadi, for getting his picture and an article about himself published in the Greenville Journal (Friday, September 7 edition)!  The article detailed Anish’s accomplishments in winning the state award for the 2012 Discovery & 3M Young Scientist Challenge and the Doodle 4 Google contest.  We are all very proud of you, Anish!

Congratulations to Langston students, Monica Avila and Emma Chacknes, for also having their picture published in the Greer Citizen (Wed, August 29 edition).   They participated in the Sixth Grade Girls Meet and Greet Luau sponsored by the school and coordinated by parents. The Luau was organized to help new students transition to middle school and get to know each other before the first day of school!
