Friday Memo February 12, 2010

Presidents Day: We will not have school on Monday, February 15.

MAP Testing: The second MAP testing session will begin Tuesday, February 16th in Math and English classes.  Please encourage your child to do his/her best on each test.  Results will be sent home in March once testing is complete.  The scores on these tests will be one factor helping teachers make course placement recommendations for next year.

Operation We Care: We are collecting items to send to our troops overseas.  An email was sent home earlier this week with a list of most requested items.  We will take whatever we collect to Greenville Place Assisted Living Center, where the items will be packed.  Greenville Place needs 5 students to help with the packing on March 6th.  If you would like to help pack the items for shipping, please call Mr. Ham at 982-0793.

Attendance: When your child returns to school after an absence, please send a note in with them explaining why they were out.  All absences after 10 will be considered unexcused unless your student has a note from their doctor.  Students should bring the note to Mrs. Myers at 8:15, when they are dismissed from the auditorium.

Acts of Goodness: Thanks Mrs. Gabriel for hanging up our bulletin boards.  Thanks Mrs. Stuff, Mrs. Intile, Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Schwalm, and Mrs. Fite for hanging all of the “Acts of Goodness” on our Wall of Goodness.  Ask your child how many “Acts of Goodness” they have witnessed this week.  What were the acts and who committed them?  Next week is The Bear Scavenger Hunt.  Students will identify “Acts of Goodness” committed by our teachers.

Langston Expeditions Adventure Program (L.E.A.P.):
