Rachel Hamilton
About Me

My name is Rachel Hamilton, and I am originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland. My family moved to Glasgow, Scotland when I was 7, and in 1999 we moved to Allentown, PA. In 2000, I attended university in SC; the Southern culture reminded me so much of home that I stayed!

I am happily involved in the ministry of my church where I particularly enjoy being ‘off-campus mom' to several out-of-town college students. I spend any spare time traveling, playing the piano, cooking for friends, going to spin class at my local gym, outlet shopping, and dining at various ethnic restaurants. My current favorite ethnic foods include Indian, Thai, Japanese, and Middle Eastern. I also love the traditional Scottish dish, haggis, and my favorite chocolate is anything from the UK or Europe!

I've taught at Langston since its inception, and I love our school just as much (if not more!) than I did that first year. It's exciting to be part of a growing, vibrant school! Teaching at Langston allows me to focus on the needs and interests of boys and girls separately. Langston also provides an incredibly warm, supportive environment, and I feel like I'm with family every day!

I know single-gender education works because of the results I see daily in my classroom and the energy my students put towards their work. Student performance in single gender classes along with test scores have been the greatest indicators to me that single gender education is highly effective. I can honestly say I have the best job in the world, and my mission is to serve our students to the best of my ability.
